John Betts House – Accommodation
John Betts' House is situated in Rylett Road, just a few streets away from Sycamore House. It was built in the early 1960s as a two storey building. During the late 90s the flats were refurbished and a third floor added. Today there are 42 flats including 12 for married couples. A lift has been installed and the Residents' Lounge is a large and pleasant, sunny room. The House has its own attractive courtyard garden, providing residents with that rare amenity; a peaceful, enclosed space within an essentially urban environment.
All the flats are carpeted throughout, are well decorated and centrally heated. The sitting rooms are spacious and light and the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. The kitchens have built-in units including an oven and separate hob with extractor fan. There is also a space for a fridge-freezer. The bathrooms are equipped with showers. All the rooms have a generous supply of power points and a television aerial socket. Residents provide their own furniture and the Scheme Manager can advise on suitability if necessary.
I love my flat. I love the garden. The other residents are friendly and we have some good social events. The staff are very helpful and it is reassuring to have someone to call on in emergencies, or if urgent repairs to the building are needed.
